If you’re seriously considering this car, then I don’t have to explain to you the 997’s place in the pantheon of Porsches. Some view the 997 as an update to the polarizing 996, but you know better. Upon its introduction, the Porsche 997 was universally hailed as a stunning evolution in the design of the legendary 911. While the 996 tried with middling results to ‘contemporize’ the vaunted 911, the 997 harkened back to the model’s roots. The 997 revisits the utilitarian design of the air-cooled 911s, while adding smooth and muscular lines, not unlike what you might find on a 993. The interior was completely redesigned and again, revisits cues from the classic 911 interiors. Make no mistake though, the performance of this 911 S model is utterly rooted in the here and now- its powerful 3.8L Flat Six and innovative transmission and suspension systems are nothing less than technological marvels.

I’m more than happy to sell this car to any qualified party; I’d be mad not to. That said, I think this 997 appeals to a buyer with a certain mindset. In a perfect world, that’s who I’d like to see driving this car. So who is this buyer? He’s not just buying this car as a status symbol. If he were, a stock Carrera offers plenty of status for a lot less coin. He’s not just buying this car as fun run-around car, otherwise, he’d probably just buy a Cabriolet and drive top down - what does he care that a Cabriolet is heavier and slower? No, our prospective buyer is more than likely a knowledgeable buyer. He knows the Carrera S delivers on what every true Porschephile is looking for: performance. He may not know what PASM stands for, but he sure as hell knows what it does. He aims to drive the car, not just polish it. He’s an enthusiast and he appreciates all the very carefully considered performance modifications this particular 911 boasts. He understands that nothing has been added to this car that is arbitrary or gratuitous. The Sachs pressure plate makes gear change almost instantaneous. The GIAC ECU re-flash gives added grunt in just the right places through the power band. GT3 Control Arms and H&R Springs keep the car planted, Stainless steel brake lines coupled with Turbo rotors and a combination of GT3 and Turbo pads make for impressive stopping power.
This Launch Edition 997 will take you right to the edge of the envelope but it is forgiving enough that you can make a mistake and not pay dearly for it. This car does not skimp on performance but neither does it compromise on amenities.
The interior coddles you in full leather. Adaptive sport seats offer excellent support and long distance comfort while the Bose High End system pumps out wonderful sound. Nav and full Climate Control with AC top it all off. If all that weren’t enough, this car is immaculate. Glistening Perfection has given this 997 the full works: paint correction, Nano paint, wheel and window treatments, Phase III decontamination, interior/exterior detailing and leather treatment. In all, 40 hours of detailing. Make no mistake – this car needs nothing. And to answer your question, yes, the photos are recent and the car looks just as spectacular in person.
Imagine, a car you can drive to work every day luxuriating in complete comfort and then run full bore on the track on the weekends. Few cars can make that claim, which is what makes the 911 Carrera S so special. And none more special than #033. Ask yourself one question – in your lifetime, how often are you going to be able to own a piece of perfection?
