What makes the car special isn't just the X51, but the short shift kit, the audio controls on the wheel, a very functional navigation system, the full leather, and the adaptive seats. It's got a Dension for the iPod/iPhone which I rarely use, and I added a Tooki so it communicates with any cellphone hands-free. I have a set of winter tires/rims which I'll likely keep or sell separately. I garage it and always park it away from other cars or in a spot with only one car next to me. It has brand new Michelin Super Sports, which make the car even grippier with less tire noise. It had its last major service at 40,000 and is running perfectly.
The sunroof mechanism stopped working mysteriously after a rubber gasket that was hanging down from the roof was "fixed" by my local Porsche dealer. It didn't make sense to me and I didn't make a stink about it, but they COMPLETELY replaced the frame, motor, and electronics of the sunroof--in essence it's entirely new. This was done about two months ago. This 911, having the upgraded engine, wasn't in the recall for the IMS issue and has been stellar. Supposedly after 40K+ miles, the issue is nearly moot, but this X51-equipped car has the improved IMS seal from the factory regardless.
What problems does it have? There are some interior scuffs, most notably on the plastic back of the front seat, as I took an iMac to the Apple store once and it slipped and scratched it. The leather looks good and is solid. I just bought the ECS LED light kit for the car, but only about half the lights work; they sent me extras and I've kept the originals (which work perfectly). I'm sure a mechanic (or a better home mechanic than I) can get the few new LEDs working...I haven't used the original carpets as I have the fitted plastic ones in always.
At parking lot speeds I lightly rear-ended a guy who stopped short a couple years back doing cosmetic damage to the front fascia--it's been completely and perfectly fixed. No structural damage was done. A PPI will show it's in excellent shape.
The sound, grip, and feel of the car is awesome. Please feel free to contact me if you're interested.
More pictures are available if you're interested, but I was only allowed to upload five for this ad.
