Price Drop
Hello Forum, I have been busy with work, completing a major move and travel and set selling this car aside for a while. Summer is here and I have decided to lower the price to $29,000 to see if anyone can get motivated.
The 2007 SL55 030 is here now and I am getting a little crowded. It's not a really bad problem to have I must admit but I am a pretty much hopeless car addict and wish to experience as many world class cars as I can.
This particular example looks even better in person than the photo's can portray, It comes with a ton of records and a "new" factory motor with only about 30k miles on it and a MB factory built transmission with less than 10k on it. The motor was detailed and thoroughly gone through/resealed before we installed it last year. There are also 2 complete sets of 18" Mono Block wheels/tires that are or near perfect (Summer/Winter), new brakes, suspension and on and on. Please look at my earlier post for details.
I have several trips coming up but for the most part am available.
Thanks for your support and interest.
My 500E is officially SOLD!
Very nice collector from Long beach CA. flew upand bought it and drove it home yesterday. After a through Buyers Inspection he agreed to buy at full asking price. He brought a friend who owns a Mercedes specialty shop (also President on the California Vintage Sports Racing Organization) to share the experience of driving this wonderful car down the Pacific Coast Highway. We did a little kart racing at my local track ant they took off to drive the Coast over the next 3 days. They were very excited and I was a bit in sellers remorse but a good time was had by all.
Thank you all for all the positive feedback and support!
Hello 6-speedonline, this is my first post; I purchased BP’s rather magnificent 92 500E.
To all of you that thought about purchasing this 500E and did not take that step...THANK YOU! Allow me to say that one more time...THANK you! I will explain.
BP picked my buddy and I up at SEATAC from where we went directly to the track for a couple of go-kart sessions where BP absolutely destroyed us; the man is wicked behind kart wheels and i suspect anything on wheels.
We then went to BP’s garage and home; the posted pictures are an injustice to his man-cave and home.
We switched out wheels to the Michelin Pilot Sports on the second set of Monoblocs and made some final pre-road-trip checks. We then loaded the trunk and backseat up with MBZ “stuff,” lots and lots of MBZ “stuff.”
After that off for lunch at “The Shop” in Seattle; google this place, it is a car and motorcycle mecca with excellent food and warm hospitality.
We left Seattle and spent the night in Portland from where we began a two-day drive down the Oregon Coast through Northen CA wine country and across to the I-5 just above the SF Bay Area.
We covered over 1300 miles in about 22 hours of road time.
The car is an absolute pleasure to drive. It is so well-planted in corners, handling is tight and you only need to think about braking to slow down it brakes so well. The car is well-sorted with the “right”’upgrades. I offer this statement within the context of I have had a very well-cared-for stock 92 500E for about 15 years; same pearl black, but with a tan interior.
This 500E is everything I’ve always wanted my 92 500E to be and thanks to BP, i don’t have to do it...he did... and then some!
I will now sell my 92 500E and drive off into the sunset with essentially a rebuilt 500E for a fraction of what I would have spent on my car...and I would have spent it on my car.
The car is only a third of the story, the road-trip and the seller, BP, completing the story; you’ve heard about the road-trip and the car.
Now the seller; both my buddy and I spoke quite a bit about him behind his back. It is a rare event to meet such an outstanding person. First of all he worked magic on the car and took it well beyond several “the next levels.” I thought I was the guy you wanted to buy from, I’m no longer worthy as I had a reality check on just how high the bar is.
BP rolled out the red carpet and extended to us such warmth and hospitality; he is that gentleman you hear about in the old South, these days a scarce commodity.
BP mentioned seller’s remorse. As we pulled out we looked at his face and had to stop the car; the look on his face, I felt so bad. BP knows his car joins 10 other German cars, this one being one of the more modern ones, where it will be well-cared for.
It was a grand experience at many levels and my buddy and I are both richer in life for it. We were lucky to have met BP, purchased an exceptional old school MBZ and saw a part of this grand country of ours that neither of us had previously seen.
Thank you BP and if you read this far thank 6-speedonline forum for taking the time to share in my experience.
