For all those interested, I just wanted to leave a bit of information. Most know me here and I have bought and sold a few cars to members and may more parts over the years. I purchased my Panamera GTS from a member in Arizona sight unseen and sold it two years later to another member who flew in to the Columbus airport. So I am not super hesitant about buying and shipping a car. I sold my 997 turbo to a member in Alabama and still talk monthly to him. The seller is a brand new member here as of this month and has no real feedback or credibility but regardless I made an offer on this car of $15,000. The seller declined and said lowest would be $15,500. I thought it was still a decent deal so I requested more pictures over the past couple days via text. The pictures came and the car seemed to check out. I asked all the normal questions including accidents and paintwork. The seller stated there was neither. Although he is in Michigan which is only 3hrs away, it is still more economical to ship the car as opposed to a day wasted in driving back a forth. So of course after being satisfied with the questions answered and pictures sent, I did my final check which was pay for and run a Carfax. Well wouldn't you know, an accident showed up. I sent a screen shot to the seller and asked what this was about as it was clearly during his ownership. He stated that he had no idea that his mom had wrecked it. I said I thought, like your ad said, the car was yours. You used the word "i" and "my" in your ad leading me to believe it was yours. He said, well its my moms but she gave it to me to sell and keep the money. I asked about loans and titles and he said he had the title. Getting thorough these hurdles, I stated with all of all the recent new facts, and a bad Carfax with unknown damage, I was going to stick to my $15,000 offer. That text was sent today. He sent a text back saying "deal". My next text was the next normal text, "I will write up a purchase order tonight so I have proof of why I am wiring you $15,000 dollars and I will just need it garaged until that clears and I can get a shipper to get it. Also PLEASE SEND ME A COPY OF THE TITLE showing it is yours and there are no leins". His next text 2 hours later is, "Actually, give me a few more days to think about it." I state, "its all good I will pass. Good luck on the sale". I felt at this point, we made a deal and sent a text saying so, I got passed all the inconsistencies and now all of the sudden he puts the brakes on again after I ask for a copy of the title. His next text is "Ok, thats fine, thanks for wasting my time". Now the way I see it is, we made a deal, I got through all the stories and a bad Carfax, I made the final offer, he accepted and then he said he wanted a few days to see if the car sold for more because he had lots of activity all of the sudden. So not sure who's time really got wasted here.

Maybe nothing here but at the minimum, being a long time member that has done business with lots of members here, I figured you all should know the car has an accident showing up on Carfax and the seller does not actually own the car.
Another bit of information is the car shows at the dealer right before his mom or whoever buying it. It states it was serviced and specifically says a front license plate bracket was installed. Now the current pictures show no holes. I asked if the bumper was painted during the accident and he said "I just asked her about it and she said it was minor the scuff buffed right out".
Take it for what its worth but at this point there are lots of "stories" with this sale.
Appears to be a nice car but might be worth a look in person and a look at the title.

Good luck to all and stay safe!

Hello @Mr.911 and @Marpir821 ,
Mr.911, as Marpir821 has made comments as to the deal you both agreed on, and you have not countered any of his comments, do you wish to comment, or do you wish to updated your for sale thread to include the information that Marpir821 claims came to light, and what about the non existence of the holes in the front bumper, is that also correct as to the severity of the accident ?

Thank you both, and let's work this out politely.

First off, I wasn’t aware of the hole on the front of the car from a license plate holder because there were no holes when my mom bought the car. My mom got the car august of 2015 and the holes on the front plate were in July 2015. Also, he offered 15k when we first spoke and I told him no 15,500 is my lowest. We then spoke more and yes he offered 15k after we found out about the minor accident I wasn’t aware of at the time. I did tell him deal at first but then minutes later I took It back and said I just posted the car a week ago and it’s getting good feedback so I asked if he can give me just a few days to think about this 15k deal but I never stated the deal was off. He then texts back forget it. He states he asked for the title but I never received the text. I’m willing to give him the title to look up that’s not a problem. If I was trying to hide something I wouldn’t have even given him the vin or sent additional pictures like he requested.

I think updating the ad to state the car has a previous accident that shows up on Carfax and that he is actually selling the car for his mother is sufficient. No one will really know the extent of the damage unless a visual inspection was done in person. Like I stated in the end of my comment, the car looks nice in pictures but when I tell someone we have a deal, we have a deal. I have the texts showing the question to see the title and then the follow up text from him stating he now wants 2 days to "think about it" or to see if he could get a better deal. So how that one text of all our texts today did not make it though is suspicious to me.

I’m not looking to have beef with anyone here or cause any trouble. I admit to telling him a deal, but given some time after the text I still wasn’t sure about the 15k because as mentioned before I was still getting messages from other people. Therefore, I kindly asked him for some time and he abruptly said forget about the deal even though I never said no to it. People are allowed to change their mind and ask for sometime, are they not? Also, in regards to the license plate bracket, the car fax clearly shows that was replaced by the dealer in July before my mom purchased the vehicle in August, so that has nothing to do with us. Also, I can’t stress enough I never got that text. Technology isn’t perfect and one point in time you probably never received a text even though someone claimed they texted you. As stated before, I offered everything you asked for an also agreed to give the title.
