I have the above schnell tube (similar to fabspeed) wrapped in black (less conspicuous) but can be removed.
Also, K&N filter.

K&N filter will definitely work on both 996 and 997.
I am not sure if the tube will fit on the 996, but it looks like fabspeed uses the same one for 996 and 997. Maybe you can check with schnell...

 

I just verified with vertex that the schnell kit will work with both 996 and 997.

will this work if i just use the tube? i don't like the k&n air filter... what is the difference between that tube and the oem tube?
