There is no Porsche dealer where I live and my options are limited(for power) to Z06, viper, SL65/SL55 or Ford GT. I've lost 80lb for my B-Day and my hip feels a lot better so I figure maybe just 'one more sports car'. Anyway, I figured the GT was the most unique and is easily modified for more fun. Make sense?
Makes perfect sense to me. The 996TT is a great car, but the ford GT is a true supercar. Especially with just a pulley and a tune. People have no idea how cheap it is to make it brutaly fast. If I had the extra 70k I would have done a GT instead of my porsche turbo. The porsche was just more affordable. I can't believe I just said that!
CPU:
he is selling a GT2, not the TT...even the X50, which I see that you own is not in the same class as the GT2....if you look at the performance numbers and tunabilty, the GT2 is comparable to the Ford GT, although technically the Ford is considered a "supercar" (and as a Mustang owner, I like Fords).
The GT2 I am purchasing next week puts 600 to the wheels and has had no internal work. Shouldn't it, with its racing oriented suspension and ceramic brakes hang w/ a Ford GT on the track? I have never driven a Ford GT, but the numbers seem very comparable to the GT2.

I have not seen a comparable track test between the two. I will say though for less than 4k in mods you can put down well over 700whp with the GT. The GT has way more torque. The weight of both cars should be close within 125-150lbs. You know I realize a GT2 is a better track car than any other non modded 996 Turbo. Just IMHO not better than the GT, but I have been in love with the original GT40 since I was a kid. I love it that Ford is making a retro version of the once famed GT40. Another thing I think will be interesting is how much better over time they hold there value.

CPU,
I love the Ford GT as well. 700 whp for only 4K is amazing. It took about 26K in mods from S-Car-go/Protomotive to get the GT2 I am buying to the 600 whp level.
Nonetheless, I am still a little annoyed that the GT is (according to wikipedia) a supercar and the GT2 is only considered an elite sports car, lol.
But like Vince said, you can't beat the GT2 for build quality/trackability. The car is tough as nails.

My friend, who admitedly can afford to pay did the mods along w/ some other work. He (unlike me) is willing to pay retail to get what he wants. It is the full protomotive package w/ the clutch upgrade that is good for 1000 hp. So I guess, then, Protomotive and S-Car-Go have built their rep ripping people off.
Wait a minute, didn't Proto build Marski's car? You don't think he got 800 plus whp for 10 K do u? Just for starters, the garret Turbo kit on my car was 6.1K, the Europipe was 5.6k, intake, 2k, ECU upgrade 3.4k, Headers 2.1, clutch, 2k etc... My friend, u must be smoking some kind of pipe to think u can get all that plus the labor and supporting mods for 10K.
Edit: I just looked at the invoice and the performance mods ran about 26K.
In any event I am getting the whole car for 100K.

There is definately some lag since the Turbos are large. But once they hit, watch out. I ran her in high boost the other day and it was insane. The key is to stay at at least 4K RPM when racing and the power is endless.
Killed a Z06 today (walked him twice, actually) and I was just in low boost.
Actually, I need to clarify a point. After talking to Mark and conferring with Todd (the P man himself) my car is not the FULL protomotive package, but a protomotive tuned version that S-Car-Go puts out w/ slightly different intake and the ability to run on pump 93 at high boost instead of the 100 for the full Protomotive car (which produces 675 whp).
