Well that's a good question. However, under the right circumstances I'd be able to fit it within my budget. Then I guess I could afford it, right? I'm more concerned with my monthly payment rather than the total cost paid after financing. When has purchase of a car such as this ever been a rational idea? Sure we find ways to rationalize it, but the truth is, if everybody purchased cars that made sense on all levels, we'd all be driving an AWD Hybrid Toyota Highlander. I believe that sometimes if you can find a way to treat yourself, do it. You only live once, so you better enjoy it. I don't have a wife or children, so I would not be sacrificing somebody elses well being in order to make me happy. It would just mean selling my current 911 and cinching down my belt in a few areas and cutting out the fat. To me, that is a worthwhile trade-off.

Scott,
Since you are serious, and even though this seems to be a great car, very long term financing on a performance car out of, or soont to be out of warranty is a bad idea. You will be so upside down that you will regret it and will not be able to maintain the car properly or will resent the "weight" of the deal.
If you are not going to put a lot of miles on the car you might be better off leasing, then at least you have a full warranty for the length of your ownership and can determine your cost accurately. Just my .02 cents!
