Wanted - Pair of 996TT Stock (OEM) K24 Turbo Actuators - Any Condition

I would actually prefer old broken ones as I do not want to use them for the car. I want to take them apart and see if I can design a replacement. I would like the brackets to be straight and salvagable.

So I really want some used and useless stock K24 turbo actuators, before you throw them away please consider me.

Thanks

Hmm. Interesting. Nothing useless with old actuators, BTW- just pop them apart, replace the springs, and you have a 1Bar actuator! AFAIK, the same actuator is used on the K16 and K24.

Inside you will find a reinforced membrane, formed into a cup with a nylon reinforcement molded in, and made from a heat resistance rubber (teflon?). The membrane has a metal plate in the center, that attaches to the actuator rod, and also mounts against the spring. The cup membrane rolls as the pressure changes to provide a linear translation of the central rod.

The cross section of this membrane defines the force it can apply. The volume of the chamber defines the temporal response to pressure pulses from the N95 valve, and how quickly the actuator will adjust, and how much it adjust to each pressure pulse (or given opening of the valvce). The spring has a certain spring constant at a specific compression, and the compression defined by the housing. This spring will provide the 'resistance' to the wastegate opening.

Sounds complicated, but it isn't when you see it. HOWEVER, making changes to it, when you do not have access to the other devices (programming, pressure source from the N95 valve) becomes dicey.

At least that is my read...

A

PS If you wind up not making your own, I highly recommend UMWs wastegate kit for your K24s...big difference with a flash and exhaust...

PPS Just saw yur engineer quote..I like it

Ard: When I said useless I really meant broken or discarded (useless to the previous owner).

I know about UMW's kit, it is as you say an easy mod for us engineering types, a no brainer really. However, I would rather also have new diaphrams as well.

I would rather replace the complete units with new ones for half the cost of the spring kit etc. You can buy decent actuators around 1 bar adjustables for between $45 and $90 each. You can do the whole thing for around $180 and some sweat equity, with probably better actuators if you shop around.

If I were buying, I would get the complete kit from EVOMS for the same price and brand new actuators with brackets.

But I am not, I am designing my own, a different system. I just do not want to fabricate the brackets. I could but I don't want to.

"Remember the quote "

What you say is exactly my goal. I will use UMW for my custom Flash, I currently have completed the exhaust mod, but am modifying it also as it is too noisy for my liking, goos but noisy.

I have done lots of waste gates on Garretts in the past on my Lotus then for friends cars. I found that new actuators are actually the best solution in the long run, at least IMHO. I have pulled so many apart that have been over adjusted and compomized the diaphrams, it is not funny.

Is there no one that has any of these to spare?
