Are the buttons on the wheel for an automatic? If so can the wheel be used with a 6 speed?

 

Yes, this is the Tiptronic wheel and can and was used on a manual transmission car.

It was on my wife's Boxster (as picture shows) and the buttons were used to control the OBC. She didn't have the 4th stalk and she liked the CF wheel (two birds with one stone).

It can be used on a 6spd without issue.
