Spring 2014 Texas Mile
Great runs in the Red Beast
Tym,
Congrats on building an amazing beast. The sound is otherworldly ! Great job on keeping it straight and safe. Many of us believe that has the POWER to set the P car record, but it ain't easy, that is for sure. Curious about the wing on back (I know that these cars need a delicate balance of downforce vs Aero. Looks like you have a GT2 front clip on. Did you study the pics of the 9FF rear wing at all ? MK

Good to see that you made a safe run, and it didn't look like you had to much of a problem handling the car at speed. Cross winds will have little if any effect on the rear spoiler at speed, compared to the side of the car. The big challenge with cross winds is limited front end weight - imagine and arrow with the heavy point at the back.
Obviously for aero and down force it would be better to develop a functional diffuser, but its difficult to get right, costly and with Tim's turbo location, is going to be a challenge. The rear spoiler can be trimmed and adjusted to provide almost no drag and little down force, or the opposite if need be, which is a big advantage when running variable conditions at roll races/mile events

Agreed ... But I still would be concerned that his rear spoiler has a lot of side surface area in a high location which 'might' be a bad thing with heavy cross winds ? Maybe not though?
John, you're not wrong. There is an aerodynamic tendency to weathervane with the increased vertical area (fins) but it's offset by the increased downforce created by the horizontal part of the wing.
It's a balancing act.
It's a balancing act.
Thanks
Wing is set for 0 drag the way it sits in theory.

Pulled more data off the VBox. One of the runs actually had a 3.36sec 100-150 MPH which is the new 996 100-150mph record.

Isn't EvoMS 997 claimed 2.86 the overall Porsche record?
