This is a genuine 997.2 GT3 shifter which can be used in any 996, 997, Boxster, or Cayman(986, 987).

This is less than a month old and less than 100 miles of use so practically new.

What's your impression so far? Are the throws nice and short and precise?

 

I can't say I feel much difference in the length of the throw, which I didn't expect with only a claimed 20% reduction from the stock 996 shifter.

However, smoother and more precise shifting is very noticeable. In fact just having both on the bench while doing the install the difference is noticeable.

The stock shifter (with 49K on it BTW) is "loose" and "notchy" while the GT3 shifter is tight and smooth.

On the car it's also noticeable. With the stock shifter it felt more like the shifter "hit" a notch for a gear then you had to drive it home into that notch. With the GT3 shifter you hit that same notch but it just slides into place to hit the gear.

If I run across an SSK for a 997 at a good buy I might try it just to compare but I can say the GT3 shifter IMO is worth it over the stock 996 shifter.
