996tt upper strut mounts

Looking for a good takeoff set of upper strut mounts for my 2004 996 turbo X50 cab

DaveCarrera4S 02-12-2018 06:25 AM

had mine replaced. They used an aftermarket set, but they were beefier. Cannot remember the brand.

PM sent.

Elephant Racing makes the best set for adjustability - roughly 3 times OEM. I finally have a good alignment.

Which ones did you install

I have a whole set of low miles OEM suspension if you want a refresh...

What shape are the strut mounts in, miles on them? 55000 miles on mine and they are shot. Considering going new unless I can find a really low mile used set. Prices on these are rather steep but don't want to be doing this job twice. Will PM you my email address if you care to forward photos. Thank you for your response.

Think I found the ones you installed. Look like a monoball unit, do you experience additional cab noise opposing these to a rubber insulated stock part. Trying to make a decision which way to go.

Slider 02-12-2018 11:58 AM

They only make one that fits 996 TT: here

I didn't experience any extra noise at all. I had switched to the Tarrett first, but they were not properly designed for installation with OEM shocks (which I had at the time).

You have these installed with the PSS10 struts and are quite happy with them ? Much of a difference over stock rubber bushed units?

Slider 02-12-2018 01:00 PM

My OEM strut mounts were worn and quite squeaky. New camber plates stopped the squeak right away. The PSS10s fixed any play in the damping system. I can totally ignore speed humps now with absolutely no dive after the hump but no hash impact either - hard to believe that is possible. Performance-wise very stable in high-speed corners. Absolutely happy with the result.

Strut mount bushings are cracked, shocks are worn out as well. Imagine I will see quite a difference when everything back together. Pricey though.

Yes, very pricey... I kept waiting for a "special" - never happened...
