I just brought my Meteor Gray 2009 997.2 4S, with 30,000 miles into a Porsche dealer, because I am getting vibration in steering wheel when going 80+ mph. Dealer says I have 3 bent rims on my OEM Silver Sport wheels. Prior to moving to Southeast Florida, I do remember hitting a couple NY pot holes since buying this car in 2013. I am very careful, but It has happened. The roads are a lot better here in Florida, but there are occasional pot holes so I want to make sure I replace my rims with street rims, not softer lighter show rims. I assume rims are made out of various metals, some harder than others. I know a lot of enthusiasts like to cut down on weight on the rims, but I am more concerned with longevity.
As you can tell, I have zero knowledge on rims, which brings me to 6Speed. I do like the OEM Sport rim look I currently have, which the dealer said would cost approx $6,000 to replace. I almost swallowed my tongue when he said six grand, but if that is how much a good set of rims cost, then it is what it is. Since I have to replace my rims, I was thinking of trying a different style from the Porsche OEM sport ones. As I said I know nada about car rims, except I know what I like.
With that said, over the years of owning this amazing machine, I have admired the look of a couple different brand rims. But, I know nothing about these rims, nor have I checked prices yet.
I would appreciate your knowledge on these rims and all advice would be greatly appreciated! Including the possibility of buying used rims if they are in great shape.
Thanks,
Jeff

Links don't work for me either. My opinion is that if you're going to dish out $6,000 on new rims, choose the one you like the best between the brands listed below which are my favorites: Of course there are many others but these seem to be the best sellers among forged wheels. All these are forged as supposed to cast so much stronger and lighter. You can also specify offset and eliminate the need for spacers to get the wheels flush with the fenders. No brainer to me for the same price as overpriced cast stock wheels. The only forged stock wheels I'm aware of are the Turbo wheels but they're still very heavy.
Only downside I can think of going this route is if you're concerned about resale value. To me it's crazy but a lot of buyers out there insist on bone stock and will rather have 30 lb stock cast wheels than 20 lb forged after market wheels. Don't ask me why.
I have a set of forged Champion RS171s for sale that I had custom polished then clear powdercoated so they'd never have to be polished again and would maintain their shine. Because they're forged, they're super light (actually lighter than my Forgelines) and also super strong.
I think I have about $8,000 in them with the wheel cost and the custom work. Selling for $4,250 shipped.
They were on a nvmb C2S so the front fitment is fine, but on the rears you'll need to run spacers for your widebody 4S.

For $6,000 you can get a much better wheel than the OEM's that are offered. The OEM wheels are cast construction meaning they are heavier and of a lower quality when compared to a custom forged wheel. Cast wheels are also much cheaper to produce which makes the $6k asking price on them ridiculous. Both the BBS CH-R & Avant Garde wheels are also cast wheels albeit it a slightly higher quality through a different casting process (but still a much lower quality than a truly forged wheel).
A custom forged wheel like an HRE RC100 or HRE 540 (both pictured below) come to mind when being in this price range. They are extremely lightweight, fully custom, and come with lifetime structural warranty.
I'm selling my old set of wheels. They are 20" Modulare H2s with Toyos. About 4k miles on it and in good shape. has nicks from normal driving so priced accordingly. Let me know if you're interested
