Hi Guys, have just been on a factory tour at Crewe. We were given a tour of the lineage (museum) where they had the first Bentley, a blower, and Lemans winner, as well as a Merlin Spitfire engine and a 9 cylinder Sopwith Camel World War 1 radial engine.

Also saw the final production Mulsanne's that will be released this year and walked up the GT production line.

We were then shown Mulliner and the trim shop. It is amazing how they produce and apply the veneers and how they mirror them. We also saw how they machine the solid hard wood items for the Mulsanne. They weigh a ton and it is easy to see how the cars weight gets up there and why they apply veneers over aluminum on the GT to keep weight and production costs down.

It was a great time, and well worth the visit.

Will post when I get back to US as I left all leads and software there. They were pretty tight on where you could take pics.There were some mules ie Mulsannes with Arnage bodies on them with Inserted body extensions between the doors which is I assume because the Mulsanne is longer than the outgoing?

 

I'll be in london next week, is it easy to get in over there?

 

I arranged my tour through my dealer and it was straightforward. Don't know how easy it would be independently. Crewe is about 3-4 hours Northwest of London.
