CGT prices
CGT prices
Looking to get into a 2005/6 CGT @ about $70k (maybe Mulliner @ about $80k). Any thoughts on what prices will do once new generation hits the dealers? Appreciate any words of wisdom.
Your pricing seem about right for a driver (a CGT with some miles). As for price drop, i don't expect much as it is an evolution and not like a major change in powerplant, etc. Keep in mind there are fewer Bentley cars made than Ferraris and Ferrari is always feeling the need to tinker with this and that. So my guess is that prices will not really drop much, if at all just because a 'new' model is out.

yes, fully understood. i've had various 'exotic' and luxury cars, and yes the odd 'ricer'... once you drive the Bentley daily as i do, it may become very hard to ever consider anything else for daily driving on public roads. At least it is for me because if i want a 'sports car' it will have to be another pure track car that can handle at least 3G on up in the turns. The Bentley can do so much in so many ways and yet will not rob you blind when it needs to be maintained.
Usually used car prices would have already dropped some the moment a new model is announced and starts production, as that is normal for Ferrari, Lambo, Aston Martin, Maserati, etc because everyone knows about the new model and those who want it will have orders in for the new version of the car. Sure you could debate current owners waiting to get the new car and 'flip' theirs, yet again it is not like Bentley floods the market with cars like some other brands and Bentley's reputation of quality customer care helps quite a bit too. Many people are getting fed up with certain manufacturers and how they treat their customers. This is a factor on why some are dumping their Italian car and already have deposits on the new McLaren (i know this for fact btw). When you have been in the car 'game' for many years, sure you hear the warnings about XYZ manufacturer/dealers and eventually you come to realize in a very personal way your friends were right. Call me stubborn-headed, as i needed to learn the hard way. Love the Bentley and my next car will be... another Bentley. Am not a 'fanboy', heck no as will easily flip cars on a whim, yet at some point you realize when you got a great car that does so much right and they treat you right... hope that makes sense. Apologies for going on and on.
Of course resale value is important and you are smart in buying used. Do not be afraid to get a Bentley with 8k miles a year on it. They are indeed meant to be driven and built to last.

I could not appreciate this more. Though i AM going to be in over my head, thats what makes it even more enjoyable for me & sounds like I may be where you were when you first drove the bentlet daily (as far a getting into an ultra luxury I mean). I've also had my share of sports cars but have been itching for the CGT since day 1. Leaning towards 1of2 mulliners (tempest/beluga or james red/beluga to get away from the norm though I'm sure red wont sell as easily ).
Agreed, while Ferrari is 'resale red' popular, that seems to be not quite true with a Bentley. Love black cars so the one here is what i call 'triple black' (black outside, beluga hides and piano black wood interior). Still, if you love th red and can work out a great deal due to the color, it'll all probably 'wash' financially and be ok in the end.
