My Newest GTC

A few weeks ago my warranty had run out and the convertible top had a fault so I decided it was time to get a new car. I stopped at my nearest Bentley dealership because they also sell Aston Martin & Maserati and I was considering making a change. I tried a GranCabrio on for size and found the seat uncomfortable and the interior uninspiring. The Astons are always gorgeous but relatively expensive and not known for reliability.

I took a 2013 GTC V8 Coupe out for a test drive and came away with the distinct impression that there was no discernible difference in acceleration from my 2010 GTC Speed, plus the exhaust note is every bit the equal to the thunder of the W12, but before I inked the deal I decided I really still wanted a convertible, if they had one in colors I liked. Boy, did they ever! Gazelle paint, tan top, Saffron main hides, Newmarket Tan secondary hides, Chestnut veneers, and Mulliner specification. My car also has 21" wheels and bright chrome matrix grille.

As my salesman was showing me the new electronics (a vast improvement), two customers came up to me and exclaimed they were in love with the colors, so my instincts were apparently spot on. I hear it from passersby all the time and the pics just don't do the paint justice.

This is my third GTC and my favorite.

Pics with the top up:

Check out the sunglass case. It pops out and underneath are the cup holders. You can out the sunglass case under the armrest so as to use the cup holders. Also, there's no space for loose items like keys & cell phones in front of the shifter:

This is the same color combo in a 2013 V8 Coupe but with more use of Newmarket Tan. I was going to buy this car but decided that living in Florida and not having a convertible is crazy, though I did fall in love with this car! I like the quilted door panels and the contrast of tan over saffron. My dealer had specced both cars almost the same and they are the only Gazelle cars in the States so I won't see myself coming and going.

Probably not because I'm leaving for a Caribbean cruise on March 2nd. I really need to update my profile because I now have a home in Coconut Grove (Miami) which is where I spend most of my time and only spend 3 or 4 days every two weeks in Sanibel, so my GTC is now in Miami and my Austin Healey will be here after the holidays, too.

I return from the cruise around the 10th to Miami and will probably head to Sanibel then so if you'll still be there on the 11th, PM me and we'll meet up for a drink.

Jeff

WOW! That car is the MacDaddy. I too love the AM line but believe the Bentley is a more comfortable every day car doing what we usually do on the public roads which is driving there and back avoiding speeding penalties.

Love the reason for a change! Lesser mortals would have extended the warranty and fixed the fault.

I was in the same boat a couple weeks ago. Bought a beautiful old (06) Mercedes E500 as a runabout. Both my wife and a daughter didn't like it, so sold it for what I had paid and upgraded to an immaculate SL500. Their enthusiasm was immediate.

You fell in love with it, and I can see why. It's a stunner!

I can always find ways to rationalize my obsession with cars! I figured that an extended warranty would cost $4K/year, plus the 2010 GTC Speed would depreciate another $20K (wild guess) in the next year but a new car would average $30K/year in depreciation over the 2 - 3 years I'd own it, so it really wouldn't be all that much more to get a new car than to drive my older car. That's what I told my wife and she bought it so I'm sticking with that rationale! In 2 or 3 years I'll justify buying my fourth GTC using the same logic.
