2005 vs. 2006 Bentley GT-- Dealer Says Don't' buy anything older than 2006
I am in the market to purchase a Bentley GT and have looked at a bunch. I found a 30k mile 2005 in the color I like that needs the 8 year service ($3000) according to the dealer who serviced the car. I negotiated the price down to $56k. However, when I spoke to the dealer who serviced the car they recommended that I not purchase an 04 or 05 as they see a lot of problems with those cars that were fixed starting in 2006. I have a line on an 06 but it has 51k miles at $59k, again good colors one owner.
Any thoughts on whether an 05 would be a bad choice. Is 51k too many miles for these cars. I would assume with that many miles any problems would have been sorted.

Luck of the draw
bro with any car you can get a good one or a bad one i myself have an 05 and it runs like a top the price you can get it at is also very good i have to say but would i buy an 06 with 51,000 miles on it...i would lean more towards the 05 with so much less miles....if this is just a play car for you the only place you will take it is to a nice restaurant on a saturday night then bring it back to its home well thats at least what i do but i would always go for the car with less miles
Maybe its a Euro thing? im pretty sure in the US that option did not exist. as the button on the console where it says push/start on an 05 US car is says global/close. or am i wrong?

I agree totally. I have an 05 with 30k miles and have no issues except for the TPMS system giving false alarms occasionally. Something I can live with.
It really is a matter of condition and how the car was taken care of. Don't fall for the "mandatory" scheduled inspections. A lot of the items are inspection only. Anything the dealer finds will cost more to fix. A lot of the items you can do yourself. A little common sense goes a long way. That being said, I have the dealer change the oil just so I can show the car gets to the dealer on a regular basis. In my case about once a year.
I also wouldn't get hung up on the keyless ignition and start button. Just different, not better.
If you want a worthwhile mod add a Motorola Bluetooth system that works with the iPhone and add a rearview camera. Total about $500 installed.

Please share details on the Motorola system.
U talked to bmc? They are bunch of flea bags in both sales and service departments.
Nothing wrong with 04 and 05 except some features just aren't as robust. However, even 06 Bluetooth doesn't work on most new phones and the nav is a POS.
The car also corners like crap and sucks gas. Otherwise, it is a gem with power, grace. Personally, I would buy a newer car if infotainment is important to you. A maserati for example

I installed an aftermarket nav and phone upgrade complete with a back-up cam. The installer used a Garmin black box system. It hijacks the screen with the push of a button and provides a typical Garmin Nav system on the factory screen. Control is done with a small RF remote. The box also has inputs for XM satelite radio and real time traffic along with an input for the rear camera that comes on whenever the shift lever is in reverse. The only problem with the real time traffic is you have to access a different screen to see the traffic jams. However, it does announce all traffic issues on the road you are travelling. There is also an input for a 3mm cord that can connect to an iPod or iPhone for music. I have not used the iPod connection but the installer showed me how it works. The Garmin and XM features require separate antennas that the installer hid them above the headliner at the top of the rear window where there is no IR glass coating. Signal strength is excellent.
For my iPhone he installed a Motorola system that uses Bluetooth to connect my phone to the factory sound system. The system turns off the radio when a call comes in and announces the number. Unfortunately it cannot access the phonebook in my phone but does store 20 numbers that can be accessed verbally. I can access the phone book through my phone and when I hit "call" on the phone the Motorola system takes over.
