Replace instrument Cluster

If one needs to replace the instrument cluster, are you able to just remove the old and replace with a new one. Plug and Play?
Thanks for any help

well you need to set the mileage and some other values, but if you just bought a used one it will work but some options may not be set up.

Thank you for your quick response. Do you have any idea of the steps to remove the cluster. A freak accident damaged the cluster. At worse case I will have to switch them out. Best case I can switch the damaged parts

The cluster can be removed easily The little plastic cover screen looking on left side can be pulled out theres a screw under the cover.the hazard switch will pull out . Pull the ring around the hazard switch first then remove hazard switch itself there another screw under the switch Thats it pull forward un plug wiring harness

Depends on which Bentley..... CGT or FS is not plug in play, (in a physical sense yes, coding wise no) you will need VCDS to code the cluster and you will likely need help from a dealer to provide you with a PIN code or you may need to take it to the dealer to get the coding done. I am not sure which immobilizer rev the CGT uses. http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Immobilizer

Based on what the Pheaton has you likely have Immob III

You WILL need VCDS or a dealer to do the coding. If you want to stick to plug in play these guys might be able to help. Since they are repairing your existing cluster you don't have to recode anything. Worst case is you will need to clear some fault codes. (normally from disconnecting the battery etc)
