the side mirrors on 04 gt have gradually changed from clear glass to a yellow/gold tint. now the drivers side mirror has a 1/4" band of clear across the top of the glass. what is this? is there a fix other than an expensive mirror replacement? will the clear band across the top continue to spread and eliminate the yellow tint? i appreciate any input

 

Did some research and will spare you the details. Looks like you'll need to replace them.

Chemical reaction per se. This yellowing may be due to the preparation of overall materials and/or film used situation. The heating element, temperature changes, environmental reasons can cause reactions to the materials. It seems to happen with many cars as they age.

 

I had to replace one of mine. The OEM glass fitting is EXPENSIVE. I was told that if you don't care about the automatic dimming feature of the liquid filled glass, you can simply have a standard piece of mirrored glass cut to shape. Being a purist, I elected to go OEM.

 

i replaced both side mirrors for $830.00 done by an independent bentley tech in boca raton,fl .a true mom and pop shop, the tech and his wife gave me a cup of coffee. GT motorworks.marcus and barbara

 

Just had one of mine replaced for the same reason, £185 here in the UK.
