Bentley CPO warranty
Bentley CPO warranty
While looking for another Bentley to replace my Supersports, I came across several references to Bentley CPO warranty that states that Bentley gives you 1 year of CPO warranty in addition to any remaining original factory warranty. However, when I got my car in January 2013, it still had a year of original factory warranty left, but I was offered to purchase an extended warranty in January 2014 (and did) because the factory warranty was about to expire.
I found 2 references to the additional 1 year CPO warranty:
http://www.naplesluxuryimports.com/b...naples-fl.html: "The buyer receives a 1 year unlimited mileage warranty plus the balance of any original purchase warranty"
http://www.providencebentley.com/why...certified.aspx: "Cars up to four years old are covered by a fully comprehensive, high level, one-year, unlimited mileage warranty. Where appropriate this will be represented by the unexpired portion of the original new car warranty plus the Pre-Owned warranty."
If this is true, I should have gotten the remainder of the original factory warranty that would expire in January 2014 PLUS another year of CPO warranty that would expire in January 2015.
Have I been screwed out of 1 year of warranty coverage?

Oh, that is a tangled question and been a victim of it per se. I'd call the factory and have them deal with the dealer. And most important...
WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN WRITING and/or recorded (legally) via voice communication?
Get as much as you can in writing and/or let them know you are recording the conversation:

I don't really have anything in writing as far as getting this additional year of CPO. In fact, I had no idea that Bentley apparently provides an additional year of CPO on top of the factory warranty - I just saw it on several web sites over the weekend and decided to query fellow forum members to see if anyone was in the same boat. I have not even reached out to the dealer about this yet. The fact is that A.) My car was Bentley certified and B.) It was still under the factory warranty until Jan 2014 when I got it and C.) I bought an additional year of CPO warranty in Jan 2014. Those are the things I have paperwork on. So far I've had an excellent relationship with my dealership and want to keep it this way if possible. Having said that, if I am entitled to another year of free warranty, I better get it especially considering it's transferable to a new owner and I am planning to trade in or sell my car in the end of this year.
Please post more info about your experience.
Long story short, get it all in writing and perform due diligence my friend as you would any financial transaction. Assume nothing just because you recall reading or hearing something. Thus, call the dealer and get them to mail (which then brings it under Federal law) you said warranty, what it covers, warranty duration, etc in writing. Am sure you'll be fine, yet it never hurts to have 'all your ducks in order'. I made a mistake with the GTC and it was very $$$$.
Watch out for the small disclaimer "Should you wish to purchase" on the paperwork, as I made a mistake and it cost me dearly plus another disclaimer saying:
Only then can each Pre-Owned vehicle carry our complimentary 12-month Unlimited Mileage Warranty with 12 months' Bentley Roadside Assistance*.
* Due to variances between countries please contact your Bentley Pre-Owned dealer for full details.
-----------------------
I still have the original paperwork PDF copies from Bentley Motor's own website about the car here. Am simply saying get it all in writing and assume nothing and only believe what you have in writing. I made a mistake, yes, my fault... and paid dearly for it to the tune of an engine out, front upper arm bushing, etc (over $7k as I recall, yet can get you the exact numbers if you really want to know).
Again, am simply trying to help ensure you clearly understand what rights you do, and do not, have plus ensure those rights are protected under Federal Law. So it's not a slam at Bentley, yet please learn from my costly mistake and get it all in writing. Misunderstanding can happen and fully comprehending legal and binding contracts can get confusing for some. Even guys like me with a whopping 3.5 IQ points can have a bad hair day and, thus, make costly mistakes that would not happen on a better day.
Am sure you'll be fine, yet it never hurts to get all in writing for your own reassurance.
* Disclaimer: When saying i was a 'victim', it was in fact 100% my own misunderstanding about CPO qualification and what came with the financial transaction for the GTC. And yes, using small text here for added 'humor' as in the end as one can only laugh at themselves for their own costly mistake for having a very bad day when they were finalizing the deal (bad day not related to the car / dealer / salesman / etc, Just that in life other things happen that can strain your normal concentration, focus, attitude, etc...)
Your mileage may vary. See store for details. For a limited time. While supplies last. Objects in mirror are closer than they appear.

Cant help you on the warranty question, but want to know more about your supersports. My friend is in the market for one. Is there any do's or don'ts on what to get and/or avoid. He does not want CF seats. Otherwise any other advise, and how well did you like yours?
Thanks and Good luck

I am in a crappy position because Bentley stopped making the Supersports coupes in 2011. All 2012 and 2013 cars are either regular or ISR convertibles and I have no use for a convertible. I was offered a nice deal of a 2013 ISR car, but it had the ugly red hood vents, red wheels and red lettering on the side, so that killed it.
I looked at 2013 Speed cars and they are nice, but none of them have CF brakes or Alcantara interiors like my Supersports does, so I am not very interested. I also considered a GT3, but I drop off my kids at school, so I need 4 seats. Plus, paying an additional $150K for a questionable paint job, non-removable wing and lower transmission gearing is not my cup of tea.
Allegedly there is a 2011 Supersports with under 400 miles on it (which is really a brand new car) at one of the Bentley dealerships that I may be able to get. The price is way too high and I am not a fan of the exterior color/wheel color, but seeing as A.) I don't want any car other than a Bentley and B.) There is no such thing as a 2013 Supersports coupe, I'd rather get a "like new" 2011 car than settle for something I don't like.
If your friend is in the market for a Supersports, I can talk to him on the phone and answer any of his questions (easier than typing a 10-page post). You or him can PM me. Maybe he'd be interested in buying mine - it's a 2011 and I have just over 18K miles on it now. It's still under warranty until Jan next year and if things go well with Bentley Corporate, it will have an additional year of warranty on it.
hi, if you bought the CPO, it will all be registered on the Bentley website, just pop into your dealer and find the expiry date and work it out from there. Never heard of any problems with Bentley honouring the CPO and yes you do get all of your original warranty.

So here is the latest and greatest info I got from the dealership:
1. Not every used Bentley sold by a Bentley dealership is automatically "Certified pre-owned".
2. The dealership has an OPTION to certify the car, which in turn makes it eligible for 1 year of free CPO warranty. They do not HAVE to do that.
3. Any used Bentley sold by a Bentley dealership is eligible for paid CPO warranty which costs around $4K/year).
4. The free year of CPO warranty is in addition to whatever factory warranty is left on the car. So if a car was sold new in January 1st 2014, then traded in, certified and sold again on January 1st, 2016, the buyer will have 1 year of factory warranty plus 1 year of CPO warranty.
Since my car was not "certified pre-owned" when it was sold by the dealership (although it was still under the factory warranty), I am not eligible for a free year of CPO warranty.
Lesson learned.

Am so sorry it happened to you too. Hopefully your thread is a good warning to others.
When it comes to Bentley, ALWAYS GET IT IN WRITING. Just because the ad on the dealer's AND Bentley's own website says CPO does not guarantee you actually get CPO free 1 year warranty included. For the record, both on Bentley's website and the dealer's website (I have documented printouts) the 2007 GTC had the CPO logo within their ad. Thus one would assume...

The Supersports have been hold their value solid the past few years. Its the cheapest car I have ever owned depreciation wise. I bought it used with 2k miles on it and it had already taken the 1st hit. Why on earth would you consider trading it for a new Speed or other model that is just going to depreciate massively on you and not be a better car? I don't see the market falling out on them anytime soon. Do you?

Nice looking Speed. Congrats. I'm glad the numbers worked out for you. They don't seem to be working the same for me. My 2010 SS has only lost about $5k in value in past 2 years and I can't say the same for a new one. Even if it needs some repairs which is unlikely, it is still cheaper to keep it and fix it. The new Speeds seem to take a $25-35k hit off the lot (even with steep discounts) and then about $10k+ per year for next few years until they level off for a bit. I know we aren't in this to make or save money, else i'd be driving a Yaris or something, but I still enjoy the car immensely, so the added costs to trade don't make any sense for me. I've been wrangling with it for the past few weeks now....

In any event, the depreciation for a brand new Bentley is about 45%-50% in 3 years, give or take. So if you buy the car new for $200K today, you'll get $100K-$110K for it on a trade in 3 years later, assuming average mileage of 5K-7K/yr.
For example, someone took a bath on my old Supersports (bough it for $285K new, traded it in for about $150K 2 years later). I know who it was though and they don't give a flying donut about a few hundred grand here and there

If things go well for me financially, this car is just a stop gap to carry me over until the next Supersports is released (rumors indicate 2016).
By the way, there are some pretty decent leases on 2015 V8 S cars (residual of around 56% and relatively low money factor) from Bentley financial.
