New Member and Some GT questions
Hello,
I've decided to register in this wonderful forum after discovered it some days ago and found nice users and posts
The thing is that I've got the opportunity of getting a 2005 continental GT and have some doubts about it as would be my first Bentley.
- The unit has 150.000km. Should be it a worry because it has many km or these km for this car is ok?
- What are the common issues or mechanical problems with these km?
- How do revision/oil services works?
Any recommendation? Thank you very much and hope to introduce my car soon.

That is quite a lot of kms. Probably in the top 15% of all Continentals. One big problem is a vacuum hose above the transmission, which is an engine-out service, and also quite expensive. I would definitely see if this repair has been done yet, or else you might end up spending a lot right up front. Early cars can have weak suspension components after such a long time, which if they fail are very expensive. Various "minor" electrical issues could end up costing a lot due to inaccessibility and cost of parts/labor. Oil changes are fairly simple on these cars so you shouldn't be too worried about that, but it does take a lot of oil to fill. Overall, with such a high milage, unless the car has been carefully combed over, and you have the fiscal ability to provide possibly $5k-10k+ in repairs, I would be very cautious.
Thank you @alexob53
I think the car does not have fixed the big problem you say about the engine-out service. How much would be that? The thing is that the car looks great with a good interior. Interior does not seem like 150,000km (93.000 miles). it was used for highway the whole time.
Overall, I've prepared an extra 20-30k budget for reparations. is it ok or would I need even more?

If serviced at a Bentley dealership, around 3,500 USD. But usually (and based on your mileage) they would replace some suspension bits at the same time, totaling around 5,000 USD. The check engine OBD2 code would read air injection system air flow pressure when it comes on. Those are just some common ones for early (2005-2008 or so) Continentals, but really with these cars when something seems to mess up you always end up pleading that it isn't something outrageously expensive.
Well while you had it out, it would be much easier to check for health of transfer case/differential seals and gaskets to make sure there is minimal leakage and they are in good condition. But as far as that vacuum line goes, I don't think I would replace it preemptively, only if it begins to leak and causes a check engine code. Who knows, maybe someone already replaced it and never wrote it down, or yours could just be abnormally durable. Hope this helps!
