Passenger-side headlight change xenon bulb/removal = HUGE PITA
Passenger-side headlight change xenon bulb/removal = HUGE PITA
I just removed my driver side headlight and thought it was a PITA until I tried to remove the passenger side.
Just to change the XENON bulb on passenger side, the manual says you have to:
1. Drain coolant
2. Remove primary expansion tank
3. remove purge pipe from bracket and disconnect purge pipe
4. Remove charge cooler hose (easy part)
To remove the passenger headlight, you have to do all of the above plus:
1. Remove bumper (easy)
2. Remove wheel (easy)
3. Remove wheel liner
4. Remove and drain windshield fluid tank
5. Remove fender
6. Remove headlight bolts with one hidden well inside (extremely hard)
7. Disconnect VW electrical plug (hard, can you imagine???)
Just a rant. It is incredible how engineers at VW could designed something like this. This is similar to the vacuum leak problem where it took 40 hours and $5000 just to change a $200 pipe.
I'm giving up and will get my mechanic to do the passenger light for me. I had my lights removed once and they charged me $800. Now it seems like a bargain knowing how much they need to do.

....This is hard to believe...engineering design run amuk...a total disrespect for the owners...the more I learn about Bentley the less enthralled I am...no sane design requires one to take a car apart to replace an necessary expendable part...JimB
There are four bulbs per headlight:
1. BI Xenon low & high beam (outer light)
2. Halogen high beam (inner light)
3. Halogen Parking bulb (yellow looking light that people are trying to change in this thread)
4. Halogen turn signal
To change the driver side of the above bulbs, I don't believe large disassembly is required.
To change the #3 parking bulb, it'd be easier if you remove the filter cover and disconnect the top part of the chargecooler hose.
The hidden bolt is circled in RED. This is required if you want to remove the headlight from the car. The driver side removal requires wheel liner, wheel, bumper, fender, vacuum pump, air filter cover, chargecooler hose. This is considered as easy compared to the passenger side removal. The passenger side requires more items like I mentioned in the other thread.

Here are some pics of the parking bulb cover, lock, and inside so you can do some mental preparation when you need to go in blind to remove the cover.
