Something running

I noticed on my 09 GT that after shutting the car off a motor or pump of some type in the engine compartment runs. It runs for about five minutes and then shuts off. Is it the oil pump? its not the fans running. The car runs perfect and there are no faults.

I am wondering if this is a 'turbo timer.' My 86 944 turbo has this, where it circulates coolant through the turbo after shut down to cool them off and prevent heat damage.

Not sure if the Continental has this but others might know better.

That fan noise is, in fact, the turbo cooling apparatus. It does run for about five minutes. Those of us who do some work on our Bentley GTs are amazed at how much heat the engine maintains after shut off. The engine stays hot for several hours, making it difficult to work on after a road test.

^^^ what Les said.

BTW you'll also heard a bit of an air whoosh sound at the rear of car after locking her, as the suspension goes into 'rest' mode.

Thanks everyone. I noticed that the engine stayed hot for a long time. When I park the car I open the hood and keep it open. I figured the heat could escape faster rather than be trapped and cook the rubber hoses.
