Best code/fault reader for the money
Best code/fault reader for the money
Hello all,
I'm a newbie, just bought an 06 Continental flying spur. Would like to know any codes in car and reset any once I fix down the road. Can anyone recommend an economical code reader/ fault reader and reset reader for the vehicle. Really appreciate your input...very new to this. Thanks everyone...Chris

I'm not sure what else is out there, but I really like my vag-com cable with the VCDS software. Has paid for itself many times over, but I have several VAG vehicles that I am able to use it for. Also has a great support forum.
I also have a cheap $20 obd bluetooth scanner, but I find this more useful for occasionally displaying telemetry info while driving (either on your phone or car pc). (temps, speed, rpms, voltages, etc)

If you wish to replicate the factory diagnostic capability, I recommend the VAS5054A system. However, unless you buy the complete system (I.e. laptop and software), you will find it difficult to install. Also, it is designed for factory technicians so the learning curve is VERY steep. Additionally, the British terminology (e.g. boot/trunk, bonnet/hood, HMSL/3rd brake light) can be confusing. All that being said, my investment of circa $900.00 has more than paid for itself in the last six years I (and my friends) have used it. PM me if you want more detail.
