I have a 2007 Bentley Continental GT.

Lately, when I press the start button, there are 2 or 3 loud clicking sounds in the instrument panel before the starter engages. It doesn't do this every time.

I worry about new noises.

Any ideas or suggestions?

My 2009 occasionally does the same thing and has done so since I bought it 3 years ago. When I asked at the dealership they shrugged their shoulders and told me I could leave it but I never did. Like yours, it doesn't always happen and hasn't caused any problems. The sound seems to be coming from behind the ignition key switch on the far left side. I'm thinking that it's a relay activated by the Start button that imitates turning the actual key. If that's true - and I have NO idea if it is - I'm hoping that the car will still start with the key if the relay fails. If you take it in for service and learn more please share it here.
