I have joined in the hope of finding help for my French friend who has a 1984 Bentley Mulsanne turbo with a Solex carburettor with a warped upper casting. This is apparently common with the OE Solex carburettor. The stocks of replacements are now exhausted.
Has anyone in the USA succeeded in fitting a Carter or Rochester unit in place of the useless (expletive deleted) Solex? PLEASE ?
This might be a possibility???SU CARBURETTER CONVERSION KIT - CORNICHE (SOLEXCORN) - HIF7 Carburettor - SU Carburetter - Fuel System - 1980-2003 | Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit/Spur, Bentley pre-Arnage SZ models https://www.flyingspares.com/shop/ro...solexcorn.html
Thank you 1eapplebaum . I have already been in touch with Flying Spares about a carb from a Mulsanne they are breaking, but they tell me its carb is warped too.
There are possibly.two problems. My friend's Mulsanne is a turbo car and it is left hand drive. I will ask Flying Spares if this kit would be suitable.
Talk to these guys they're in Texas USA. They are the solex experts. When I restored vintage Mercedes they machined re bushed side draft solex carbs. I've had a love-hate affair with solex. Their website isn't anything special but it is a sophisticated machine shop
