Drive away locking - Can I turn off?

Hi All,

Pretty much the title of this thread says it all.

Can I turn off the drive away locking feature or is it a trip to the main dealer?

Cheers Pete.

Hey Pete:

You can do it with VCDS. I haven't actually done it to verify. This youtube is a VW, but should be the same VAG system.

You might also reach out to member nguyennhatquang. He just had a thread where the topic of auto locks came up.

Hi Sir!
So I know that VCDS is some type of software for (I thought) detecting faults.

Apologies for my ignorance, where do I purchase it from, does it come with whatever lead I need?

Thanks in advance!

No such thing as ignorance here Mr. Pete!

Yes, that's what I have. Before purchase, make sure you review the computer needs. I have several devices like these for different cars and some won't work with Apple, some need windows 7. I can't remember about this one. Also, they sell these by the "hookups". The basic unit comes with 3 licenses. In other words 3 different cars. The unit picks up and stores the car VIN and that becomes a count. If you wanted to scan yet a 4th car, you'd need to purchase additional licenses.

I've not used up my 3 from the initial purchase.

It is a full access VAG tool BTW. You can do a whole bunch with it besides just reading fault codes in all categories.

So played with my new VCDS yesterday & successfully modified the following:

One press of fob, unlock all doors
Disabled drive away auto locking
Alarm beep & flash when comfort locking
Alarm beep & flash when using key fob:
Also cleared a couple of fault codes as I've just resolved the soft close door function on the passenger side

I was surprised how easy the software was to use, but the forum members here helped a lot so I could understand how to use it before trying it.
I'm one happy chappy

Thats great news you sorted a few things, can I ask why you have disabled the auto locking when driving away ...
