Bentley Continental GT. Engine is coming out - what else can I do?

Hi. Would appreciate any views / thoughts ......

I posted a week ago about a replacement exhaust gas temp sensor I have to have done - necessitating the engine of my GT coming out.

I've read about the vacuum hose issue. My GT was registered in June 07 - I guess I should ask my mechanic to take a look anyway?

Are there any other preventative measures / improvements I could make. Performance wise the power is plenty enough for me - so just things that could be done to ensure this engine out event is hopefully a once and for all event......

As always thank you for your views and kind responses! Hopefully I might be of some use to others at the end of this experience !

Guy

How longs a piece of string ?

must do
Starter motor can only be done engine out
O 2 sensors - easier
turbo waste gate ? Senors or some other sensors with the turbos .
Alternator coolant gasket a £2 part easier too .
poly belt and any idler pulleys - easier .

May be do ?
check possibly replace the radiator they corrode and it can be properly visually inspected .
Aircon collector check it while it’s easy to get at .
Gearbox oil .change
Drive shafts Inspect and replace the inner boots ?
Coolant hose ?
power steering pipes all three .
front light bulbs .....up grade .

The Audi forums do the splice in of the good one for the bad EGT sensor ( only two sensor wires ) until it needs a proper engine out job .
slight problem / risk .....tiny risk without a functioning EGT on one side the cats down stream can burn out ......unlikely.

Then the faulty sensor is put on the deferred maintenance list ......if the engine ever needs to come out .

I just did this. Whole engine out for a $140 part.

Here's what I replaced:

-All vacuum lines with stainless steel (a must-do)
- Both turbo solenoids
- O2 sensors
- Some other thing that was related to the O2 sensors that could fail.

The vacuum lines are a "do this now" thing.
