Radiator Fan: 1 or 2 speed?
Radiator Fan: 1 or 2 speed?
I'm wondering if a Continental is suppose to have a 2-speed radiator fan, or just one speed? I have an '04GT, and it's radiator fan always (it seems) runs for awhile on a low speed after I shut the vehicle off. I also have an '07GT, and sometimes, but not all the times, it's radiator fan will run for awhile after I shut the vehicle off, but it runs at a much higher speed than the '04's. This has me wondering if they're both suppose to have 2-speed radiator fans... and maybe the slow speed on the '07 isn't functioning, and likewise the '04's radiator fan is two-speed, and maybe it works as it should except I just haven't yet noticed it running at the higher speed if it does. And if the '04's rad fan is 2-speed, did Bentley maybe change to a single speed radiator fan by '07? Or are they both supposed to be 2-speed? I've never had any heating problem with either vehicle.
MY 2015 GT runs at high speed once I turn the engine off and runs for a few minutes. I remember my 2008 fan ran after switch off a lot quieter/slower. Maybe thats the way theyre meant to be ?
I think there the Fan will run from 0-99% power scale and the ouput is set by the ECU. Normally I see the ECU set the fan at ~ 30%.
Recently I got problem with my radiator fan that it runs nonstop at max speed and you can check out my thread here:

I would have thought variable speed .Tightly controlled and obviously links to engine speed , both temp senders and forward speed .
Not a special Bentley thing more of a across the range VAG in there high end stuff .
The days of a fan on belt from the crank are long gone as are viscous couplings, straight on / off electric motor fans etc .
Modern cars are a computer geeks paradise and a DIY ers nightmare ! .
