Anybody using E85?
I'm interested in anyone's experience in running on E85. I find the prospect of running on 100-105 pump octane pretty intriguing even though I'd expect a 20%-25% fuel economy hit. Not to mention that it typically runs a few cents per gallon cheaper than even regular. Comments???
If the engine isn't designed for E85 the ethanol can do some expensive damage. Very good article here: https://fuelandfriction.com/weekend-...less-you-know/
Until recently, I owned a 2008 Jeep Commander that had an E85 certification. In colder weather the performance suffered and the mileage was worse but in the summer it was OK. The car was in Houston where E85 was readily available at Kroger supermarket stations for anywhere from 10 to 40 cents less than Regular depending on oil price fluctuations. When the price of gas tanked in March there was only a penny or two difference. Very few conventional gas stations sell it. Because the car would sit unused for long periods (second home) I mostly used Regular because of E85's propensity to absorb water. I wouldn't dream of using it in the Bentley. Here in SW Florida I've never seen an E85 pump even if I wanted it.
