Visually Inspect Brake Pad Thickness?

Howdy all.

Is there an easy way to inspect the thickness of the brake pads without taking off the wheels?

I can see/feel the rotors which don't appear to have any uneven wear but recently my brakes have begun to squeal slightly when braking.

I imagine there are brake pad sensors that will send a warning message when the pads wear down to those limits.

Thanks,

I have a mirror I use to get a general idea. Providing your rims have large enough slots. You will have a warning light when the pads have reached the end of their life.
