Arnott struts no longer available from Arnott

Just discovered that Arnott remanufactured struts now are available only through dealers at double the old price ($900+ vs $400+). Has anyone found a source other than Amazon, NAPA, O'Reilly etc. EBAY a little less but can we trust to be latest versions of remanufactured struts.

I am not starting that this is the reason that Arnott stopped making available their so called "remanufactured" strut assemblies, but I think it is the case, as the following came to light during phone calls and many discussions on various online forums, the struts themselves were never re-manufactured, they were used struts either purchased or traded in that Arnott would do their own in house testing on and then add a coat of paint, the hydraulic electric active dampening valves and strut were never remanufactured at all, just painted, and and then had the new air bag assembly placed on the used strut...

So, one would think that they were purchasing a remanufactured strut, when in reality one would receive a used strut with unknown mileage on said strut, it could be any mileage, you could be sending in your 40,000 mile struts, and receive someone else's used strut with say 20,000 miles, or 150,000 miles, or even higher, with no way of knowing...

Doug from Arnott argued that his use of the term "remanufactured" was legit, I called him out on it because it was not, the strut / air bag assembly is a two piece item, the strut itself, and the air bag, so when you claim the items are remanufactured then you re-manufacture both items, not just paint the strut and throw a new bag on it.

Doug disagreed, and stated that the term was an industry standard, I argued that his assemblies were only rebuilt, not remanufactured, as in a re-build one only fixes what the problem is that is keeping the item from functioning, so the air bag, whereas when you remanufacture an item, you bring the complete unit back to factory new specs, replacing all internals with new parts that meet factory OEM specs.
Of course Doug still disagreed.

Let's not talk about how they led many to believe that their "New Strut" was just like OEM, with active dampening valve as per OEM spec, after my fifth phone call I got the truth, non active, and a resistor installed to fool the suspension control module, on my first two phone calls I was told they would tell me how the struts worked with the suspension control module after I purchased their units, that was the red flag.

Hence, why I will never purchase anything from arnott !

I used Aerosus and haven’t had a problem with them. Mines were leaking so I replaced them and redid my upper and lower control arms along with the drive shafts and sway bar bushings.
