Android Auto in Original Screen
Android Auto in Original Screen
Good morning from Spain, I recently saw that a forum user is installing a Tesla screen in his first generation GT. I'm still looking for something that gives me Android on the same original screen that the car has. I am a conservative and it gives me respect to lose the original menu of the car, it also gives me more reliability even though I know that the size and resolution is worse.
My question is, has anyone on the forum managed to post something like this? They have offered it to me but without a touch screen, which would also fit me.

Yes interesting video. Is there more information regarding the product name and producer? I like the functionality of the Android application also. Furthermore the install keeps the original appearance. Seems like the system is in beta.
Thx

I do not know the brand of the components, what I do know is that it is laborious.
Finally I took the car to the workshop and they are installing an android car along with a front camera, I think it will be very good since the aesthetics do not change at all. They will only have to put a small joystick in the car's ashtray since I have not changed the screen and it is not tactile.
When everything is ready I hope to show you some images

technically it is just an android module somewhere connected to AV input - allowing displaying your phone display on infotaiment - i see such option in the TUNER settings and you use this ? or it is fully independent android box?
i found smth on the net but it is compatibile only with 2012+

what i am asking for keeping the ori infotainment - even not interested in touch screen mod.
I have been pondering this update for a long time. I have three options that I am still considering. The Nav-Tv unit seems to be the most compatible but expensive. It runs $2500 for the unit and another 500--1,000 for the 'radio' and then installation. All totaled around 5K.
I think the unit in this thread is at:
https://www.xcarlink.co.uk/
Various options including a touch screen. The installation appears to require some skills to remove the head and fit the touch screen. Not for the feint of heart. Runs under $1K. Preserves the car save for the toggle switch. Since it uses native system it appears to make everything work properly if you don't mind toggling back and forth.
The last option is the 'Tesla' based units. There is a lot of discussion about the functionality and the 'Chinglish' user interface and documentation. In particular whether the TPMS works or not. My general impression is that you need to install aftermarket sensors and pair them to the Tesla units. Not sure whether you need to disable the original system to use it and the people who have it installed seem to have left the forum without further comments of the full extent of its functionality.
There is a company in California - Mozart Electronics - which has a Tesla style unit. On sale now for about $1,800. They claim that it has full functionality but I have never gotten a straight answer from them on the TPMS system. The down side to the Tesla units is you give up the original factory veneers. Not so for the other options with Nav-TV and X-Carlink.
If anyone can add cogent comments to the functionality please do, I am going to update mine after a trip to Jason's for vacuum and perhaps some new wheels.
Rock On everyone.
