But I am a little confused as to where that limitation is set in stone. Is it all in the antenna? Or is it set inside the head unit?
Hello @xclens ,
I would have to say that it is a software version inside the headunit, as I assume that you can only dial in stations between the range of 76-90mhz, and that the display does not show anything above 90MHZ, it's not like you can dial into 101.5 and just have static, correct ?
The reason I asked is because I'm having a very difficult time picking up FM stations with the new Tesla-type screen. So I was thinking it perhaps also was something with the antenna. I found a few different used ones for sale on eBay, but if you see on the left, it says "USA/JAP-AM/FM..." on this one. So that should mean that the antenna is capable of the full spectrum, from the beginning of Japan's to the end of the rest of the world's.
EDIT: I managed to find all of the FM stations after playing around with the radio settings a little. So it is true that the Japanese models have their FM band set in the software and not in the antenna.
And on this one it says "ECE-AM/FM..." which I assume is for Europe.
