I have just begun the process of removing the engine on my '04 Continental GT to repair the vacuum hoses and i have found an unconnected plug and two other plugs that have had the wires cut and the ends taped up with electrical tape.
Of course, i am now wondering what is missing (if anything).
Pictures 1 and 2 show two plugs, one either side of the radiator and they look the same - these have been chopped off and taped up. The length of wire before the plug only allows it be be mounted in the vicinity of the radiator, one each side.
Picture 3 is of an unconnected plug by the fusebox under the front windshield - i can't see anything that it should plug into. I am less worried about this one as it could just be an unfitted option on my car and is OK - i am more concerned with the other 2 that look like something has been deleted in an udesireable manner.

The first two by the radiator are the hood latch sensors. They signal with a red hood on the dash when not latched. The wires were small , brittle and poorly constructed. If you don't have the hood warning unlatched problem best to ignore. The part is expensive since you will be obligated to purchase the complete latching mechanism. The other wire might be as you stated. My B has the stated wire albeit on the opposite side?
