I use a combination of the vcds and BlueDriver. The latter more for quick diagnosis.
I would also recommend gettting the ITES parts and workshop manual CD or USB Stick (I recommend the USB) from Flying spares. It's great for tracking down parts and how to perform service/repairs on your car. It is extensive and you cannot get a better manual that I am aware of. It is the factory repair manual for the early model cars. https://www.flyingspares.com/shop/be...ord-books.html
In relation to the Ross Tech VCDS https://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/VCDS.php I have the HEX-V2 which has the cord. If I had to do it again I would get the Hex-Net which is wireless so I wouldn't have to keep my laptop within the length of the cord, but it is half the price of the Hex-Net.
