540i project still moving on slowly,
Almost done I belive....
I have not been posting lately so I thought to show some more of the progress....

Not a bunch of room to fit turbos under the hood .They would have to be small ones and under the engine mounted I guess unless we start removing parts above as the air cleaner boxes , I have seen that done before .Bentley twin turbo'd the M62 engine but had much more room in the engine bay.This project just kind of got out of control and snowballed to the degree it has become in all honesty. Nick G is tweaking the ECU as we speak and hopefully the next Dyno on the car will be really close to what we wish.At the moment the car is 498RWHP @ 5800RPM with the MAF maxing out.Next week we will see what Mr. Nick G has in store for the car.Oh yeah the Limiter is set @ 7k RPM now....
Nope the engine is a M62TU that was built by Paul at VAC Motorsports in Philadelphia . Stroked by using an Alpina crank , bored and Darton sleeved , CP pistons , Arrow H-Precison rods , stainless steel 1mm oversized valves , Alpina B7 valve springs ( after replacing the VAC dual valve springs that would not work with the cars VANOS system) ETC.... Not much stock anywhere actually.....

I got the car back from the other shop in August of last year and still was not completely satisfied with the ongoing project.So I contacted the Tuner ( I am going Alpha N ) and he is going to fly into where the car is being fitted for what I hope the last round of equipment.Speedwerks in Thomasville , N.C. is doing the last fabrication work and fitment.

Andy has been great and honest which is a real bonus.
I just returned from a visit to the shop as well as seeing the race at VIR and the BMW win in the DP class.Here are a few pictures of Andy's shops work and the race.

The bracket made up for the Aeromotive fuel filter and the new Bosch 044 inline fuel pump that will fir under the car nicely.

The new 779cc Bosch injectors from Five O Motorsports.As my friend in Iceland called them "the girlie pink " injectors.
The white 1981 911SC that got me to the race amongst a sea of other Porsches.

AND a brand new GT3 RS that stood out.

I can not say how pleased I am to finally get someone to help me on my car that is trust worthy and competent even if he is a Porsche guy.

Wow this is really awesome. Looks like it is taking a bit longer than first anticipated 
Just wondering why you started with an e39 540 as opposed to an M5. Project will cream any M5 out there, but it seems like it might have been an easier starting point.

BUT, in hindsight if I had to do it all over again I would pass on the experience.I learned a bunch of hard lessons about "Street Tuners" and the shops associated with street tuners in the BMW world.
The car is now at a reputable Porsche shop and almost finished.
