You mean $30k, same as San Francisco BMW. What a joke.

Sticker around here. Many I know who ordered them are backing out now, for economical and value reasons. It won't be long before they're all over the lots with lease specials, as I believe BMW was hoping to move 100k units of this car in the US alon e over it's span.

Give it six months, you'll be getting discounts on these cars and others. With the current state of the economy, bank after bank crashing, bmw will be lucky to get sticker on these.

I found a car at MSRP in the LA area and I miraculously found the strength not to buy it. Do you guys think its really worth $20,000 over a 335i?

Absolutely. Just picked mine up Friday.

The carbon roof looks really cool, especially against a white car. People keep stopping me asking me what that roof does. Also, the brakes are awesome. They may not last a few laps of hard driving on the track, but on the streets which is the only place I will be driving it, they stop like my 997tt (not PCCB). The I-Drive now lets you program all your driving parameters as default whenever you start the car, plus you can still program M-drive for a second set of parameters to be recalled with a button. Cornering is insane with the 19" forged wheels Suspension is the most comfortable I have ever experienced in a car of this size, including any Porsches. I think its a completely different animal and a much more complete car than a 335.

BTW, my dealer told me that BMW has sent a very "threatening" letter to all dealers recently warning them against charging over MSRP for the M3, and that if they are caught doing that, their future allocations will be reduced. In fact, when I asked the sales manager to roll my first payment into the lease, he refused because he said the contract would then make it appear as if he was charging over MSRP and get him in trouble. So this may be one of the reasons why a lot of dealers have now been selling all the M3's at MSRP. Absolutely no discounts for most dealers, but no markup either (except bank fee, money factor, etc, which would still be allowed to a certain degree).

The lenders will no longer "overadvance" even with a FICO of 700+[done routinely up 'till now]. To get over MSRP the buyer will need a down payment to cover it. I also agree that the mark up will be short lived.

No disrespect, but dealing with the folks at oyster Bay BMW is like dealing with a bunch of ******. Tried to close a deal on a 750il a few weeks ago was the worst car buying expense ever. Stay away from those ****s..

Since most of the dealers in LA are marking up cars, BMW reducing the supply of M3's to those dealers will only make the markup seem more valid. They should do the opposite and pump up the supply to all the dealers, which will cause prices to fall.

Even at MSRP the cars aren't exactly flying off the showroom.
