M5 all the way... Like the perfect blend of a 911 turbo and a 750...

M5 all the way baby! CLS is a nice car, but considering performance, driveability and resale value, you need to go with the M5.. plus BMW has .9 financing right now and you can get a great deal for these cars now.

This decision really depends how you plan to use the car. The CLS55 wins the daily driver contest. It's better looking (IMHO), has the more satisfying torque delivery and makes sweeter sounds in driving situations other than ***** out. The M5 wins when it comes to driving for fun - it has much more precise handling and the more thrilling engine when thrashed.

One other factor - if you mainly care about straight line speed and you like to mod, the CLS55 can find big gains with a few bolt on parts (SC pulley, headers) and tuning.

Great timing for this thread James as I am in the same quandry:

One HUGE issue for me though is that I was told that BMW will NOT CPO M5's and so there are no extended warranty offered so it could be very costly to own if you have prob's w/ the vehicle when the warranty is up.... That is a deal breaker for me if that's the case as MB does have extended/CPO warranty. Also another issue to think on is that the BMW spends more time at the gas pump.... not for the cost of fuel, but the amount of times pulling in to the station as the bimmer get's 200 miles per tank or so??? (no expert on this)
