How do i remove the front grills of a 08 650i?

I want to remove them so i can spray them semi gloss black, but the other day i noticed that it is not as simple as the 335i. Does anyone know how i can do them? Any input would be appreciated.

I actually had a body shop remove and paint my grill inserts but trust me do not paint them, they will chip. Just buy the black replacement grill they sell online. No matter who paints it and how you paint it, I guarantee it will chip.

Mine were painted, but the paint just kept chipping off.

I bought a set finished in black, and they snapped right in.

Thank you guys for the info. I will go ahead and buy the ones online, but i still do not understand how to remove them. When you say snap, what do you mean? I pulled down the clips but it still would not release.

Grills

There are maybe 6 plastic clips on the inside that need to be lifted up to release them. I had a hard time getting my big fingers between the blades of the grill to release them, so I just broke a few of the plastic blades by twisting a screwdriver between them. That made some room for me to release the clips. When you get the replacement grills, you can look at them to help you see how they attach. Good luck.
