Can anyone turn off the DSC on a 6speed M5

Hey there,

Im having trouble finding a way to turn off the DSC on my 2008 6speed manual BMW M5. I know how to turn it off on my SMG but there is no selection on the Idrive that lets me turn it off. Does anyone know what I can purchase or do to turn it off? It would make driving a whole lot more fun.

Thanks

cheers

Have you tried holding down the DSC button for around 10 seconds?

the only problem is that in the 6 speed manual there is no DSC button like SMG models have. I only have an MDM button. Ill try holding that button down and see if it works.

Thanks!

You are right, there is no way to turn it off. I asked a friend of mine who works at a BMW dealership and he also confirmed that you cant turn it off, which sucks big time.

That's incorrect. Search the E60 section of the M5board. BMW released updated software to allow full DSC off in all 6spd M5/M6 cars. They did a running production line change during the 2008 model year, so all of the 2007 and some of the 2008 cars need the s/w update. This is a well-known service bulletin among most decent dealerships. Have them look up bulletin 34 07 07.

The running update occurred for all cars built in Sept 07 and later (2008 model year started in Mar 2007). Cars built prior to Sept 2007 will require the above bulletin specified s/w update (then you can spin the tires until they pop and at least become proficient at launching the car as in this video). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J49CAIBZbQ0

Regards,
Chuck

Chuck,

You are the man, thanks for letting me know. I called another dealership in the MA area and mentioned the service bulletin you pointed out and in fact that is something you have to request they said. That's funny why wouldn't they just update all cars right. Once i have the update done ill try to post some videos just as the one you posted. I think the service bulletin you point out is for 5 series BMWs but in fact their is an update that can be done on the M5s

Cheers!

Thanks again
