E39 m5, Advice Needed

I was wondering if anyone here could help me. I am looking at E39 M5 with under 100k miles for a car I would drive maybe a little over 8k miles a year since I have a DD. Do I need to worry about maintenance? I do a lot of the work myself, I just don't have time to work on it all the time..

Depends on the service records, and whether or not they have them. Lot of these cars on 3rd and 4th owners from 60k miles+. Oil change every 5k is key to keep the VANOS units sludge free. Expensive, and they do fail from time to time.

Some people replace the rod bearings, as there have been cases documenting failure. However I've been working on these cars for 8 years and have never seen an S62 run into the issue.

Rest of the car is basically bullet proof, aside from suspension components being worn out. Oh, and rear tires
