M Project Car Help

Considering picking up an older M car as a project car. I'm looking for something that will be reliable, fun to drive and cost effective as a weekend driver. Will possibly track it but no more then once or twice a year, so i'm looking to build something fun and streetable! I'm considering the following:

1) e30 M - mods would be evo kit and 2.5L stoker kits w/ supporting mods.
2) e36 M - Turbo kit w/ supporting mods
3) e46 M - HPF turbo - most expensive option which i'm trying to avoid but i do like the idea of having newer technology in the car.

I'm also open to other options that i haven't thought of yet. Any help you guys can provide would be much appreciated!!

If you're considering an E36M, you may want to look at the Z3 M with the same engine (S52).

E36 M3 with a built S52 motor and you can make a turbo kit to go along with it for a good 400-500whp reliably all for the price of the stage 1 HPF kit.
