I'm Considering a Z8 Or Z8 Alpina has anyone driven one that can tell me about the power and handling?I currently have a 05 E55 and I'm aware it want be as fast, but is it close?I'm just bored with the E55 (it's very fast, but not very fun) and want something more fun to drive that I want take a bath on while I wait for the 997 Turbo. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

A member by the name of LSM has a gorgeous Z8 shown below (hope you don't mind my posting it)

Anyway, he got me wanting one. On looks alone, these cars are real winners. They seem to be holding strong value. If only I could find a nice one in my area. I have yet to drive one, hopefully someone who has will chime in.

I have never driven either of them, but from reading and looking at stats, I have learned that the Z8 is an amazing car, looks and performance wise... Don't get a Alpina Z8, they are weak sauce!! The Alpina Z8 uses the B10 engine, a specially developed version of BMW's "regular" V-8 engine. While the original Z8 is powered by the BMW V-8 5.0 liter 394 hp M engine, the same engine used in the BMW M5... I almost forgot to mention that the original Z8 comes with a 6 speed manual and the Alpina Z8 is only available with an automatic transmission. The original Z8 is much faster than the Alpina Z8. In a straight it would be dead even with an E55... Although, if you get a on a curvy road the Z8 will take the E55. The Z8 is a prestigious car, go for it! You won't be disapointed.

By the way... I have seen a few pics of Lou's(LSM) car and it is GORGEOUS to say the least!
