BMW Unveils 4-Series Coupe

As many of you know, going forward BMW's naming convention changes. All Coupes and 2-Doors will start with an Even No., Sedans and 4-Doors will start with an Odd No.

With the exception of the silly metal fender port embellishment which looks cheesy and reminds me of those $10 Pep Boys stick-on imitation fender ports Immigrants and South Americans for some reason love to put on all their cars, I love it.

Your move, Audi.

I like it already. Not bad at all.

Fantasma 12-06-2012 03:07 PM

That interior is amazing... hope it becomes really available

Enilder 12-06-2012 05:23 PM

M3 is going to be sick. I like how BMW significantly improves aesthetics of 3series over the years. Props.

The weaved cupholders will probably be a $500 option.

Darthvader 12-08-2012 12:09 PM

price?

cohenfive 12-08-2012 11:50 PM

looks good, not sure if it looks better than the e92, but nothing to be ashamed of either...but i hope they get rid of those fender chrome add ons...i think the rear looks particularly good.

unvmy996 12-09-2012 12:44 AM

Bit sure how I feel about it... I just feel BMW has lost it's soul.

The new designs don't appeal to me . Especially with the m cars, seems like they are making heavy pigs for the older mid life crisis guys .the letter m has lost it's meaning.

Heist 12-09-2012 02:10 PM

The 3-Series has suffered from tremendous model bloat. It's currently just a hair off the size of the 5-series from two generations ago and weighs almost as much.

BMW would do well to focus on curb weight reduction over the next cycle of products, and if possible, becoming more cost competitive with the likes of Audi who as of late has been grabbing market share moreso from BMW (and to an extent Lexus) than MB.

SlideFox 12-09-2012 03:00 PM

Wow! I like....

Heist 12-10-2012 07:49 AM

Non-pro beauty shots. Still looks good. Just delete the chintzy side vent embellishment.

the fender port is ugly and cheesy. i can't believe there is no wheel arch. too pain for me even if this is a non-M car.

i hope they get rid of those RFT. they are expensive and wear out too fast.

no matter what they do, BMW will sell a ton of these. most of them will be lease by yuppies.

SKNKWRX 12-10-2012 03:20 PM

Strange the resemblance it bears to the A5/S5. and the rear bumper/exhaust looks positively Dodge Charger like. Interior is an improvement and I will never warm up to the moniker M4.

kpt6 12-10-2012 08:19 PM

It's ok I guess, but I really hate the line straight across the hood behind the grille. Looks terrible.

Bimmeristic 12-12-2012 08:34 AM

So far so good!!!!

There are a few flaws in the design execution in my opinion. This would be one of them.

Enilder 12-12-2012 08:03 PM

There's GC coming out as well (4 series sedan). Both coupe and sedan came out great.

buzzm 12-14-2012 09:20 AM

cupholders look good but also look like an absolute dust/dirt trap thats incredibly hard to clean

stupid tacky side grille/gill things need to go away

and do the headlights really need a badge on them telling you they are led's, may as well put a badge on the bumper telling us its a bumper, badge everything !!!

txstormtrooper 12-18-2012 06:18 AM

Wow! That interior looks very nice...luxurious. Very nice!

ricky1329 12-18-2012 08:36 PM

nice

Fadi 12-19-2012 12:47 PM

i started saving....

RoadRunnerSTi 12-20-2012 10:50 AM

Give it some aggressive fenders, remove the silly vent thing, and I would never want those stupid woven cupp holders.... Heaven help you if you spilled something... What a pita to clean.

The overall profile and and front rear are great looking though.

I agree with the hood line too.... They should have kept it where it met the kidney grills as that is natural and necessary break for the hood line.

Steve997S 12-25-2012 09:45 PM

Typical modern BMW, way over designed. Woven leather interior reminds me of Audi's baseball glove stitching on the 1st gen TT cabrio, although not as smart.

MY biggest issue are the enormous openings front and rear. Maybe it sucks in leaves, grinds them up, and deposits them out the back?? ;)

czechchamp 12-25-2012 10:55 PM

It's not perfect but I like it thus far.

ADubM3 12-28-2012 08:22 PM

Looks good except the opening in the lower front and rear bumpers. I hope it doesn't weigh as heavy as it looks. The E92 already is a tank.

neos281 12-30-2012 02:28 PM

Nice! World class interior and exterior designs. I still think the next M-version should be labeled M3.

Same thing I thought....looks like an Audi A5/S5. Exhaust is so Dodge Chargerer esque. I like the flatter, wider stance but it needs some wheel arches. Also, too busy with the front bumper plastics.

Interior wicker weave looking crap looks terrible.

CJPatel 12-31-2012 08:30 AM

Its not bad, I will probably get one...

Maybe a DD replacement for the 335i in 2014?

GregW / Oregon 12-31-2012 09:06 AM

Tanks

Well, it's bigger, so best I can see is it doesn't get any heavier. Wish BMW would take weight loss as seriously.

FluidMotorUnion 01-04-2013 04:00 PM

It doesn't look too bad but why erase almost 40 years of heritage!?! I would understand if the 4 series was a 4 door!

BMW would never dare to follow Audi. 4 series would then equal the A4. Will never happen. BMW has always claimed Audi copies them. This would give Audi room to state BMW is now the one doing the copying.
