Rumour: BMW M5 CSL
Amidst all the talk of 500bhp V10s in the next M5, news emerges that a 'lightweight' version with 550bhp could be debuted at the Detroit motor show in January.
Whether stripping out the cup holders and fitting a carbon fibre bonnet will really be necessary for road going use remains to be seen. It will either form the basis of a race car or simply be another car to aspire to for those seeking to stand out of the crowd.

It would be interesting to see in concept, but wouldn't make sense in market. Even a light weight 5-series would still be a pig. What would be the point?
On the other hand... the rumors of a updated M5 motor (or some other hi-po V8) in the next gen M3 is juicy. If nothing else, it lets them put their GTR back in ALMS.
