e46 M3, 335i or 135i

Hello everyone, I am considering the vehicles above. The M3 will be a 2005-06.

Vehicle will be a DD with track events atleast 3-4 times a year, maybe more if I sell my dedicated track vehicle.

Let me know your opinion.

Thanks!

I know this has been discussed in great detail on a couple BMW specific forums. For track use the E46 is amazing and almost surgical it seems like. For a DD though I love the 335i, loads of fun, easy to tune and stupid quick. I'd say go and test drive them all and see what fits you.

Thanks for the reply. It seems to be getting harder and harder to find a low mileage clean e46 M3. The 135 and 335 have issues with limp mode on the track. I will have to do more research on if this issue has been resolved.

E46 M3 all the way, especially since Maximum PSI just released an affordable turbo kit for them. It's a lot of car for little money IMO, I have had and I miss them.

You hit the nail on the head with the clean example E46 being tough to find it seems like. Like I said a small amount of research and a small amount of seat time should steer you in a good direction. I think any of the three are great options, I am just not a huge one series guy. Big guys (6'4" 250ish lbs) look funny in tiny cars

I have both a 335 and an e46 M3 - both fully stock. As a daily, the 335 is far superior. My M3 has OEM 19's and the terrible local street conditions result in a jarring ride experience. On the other hand, we were driving back from Tahoe on Monday and the M3 was so crisp through the mountain roads. I've heard the e46M3 with 18"s are better for DD use.
