Last night I was looking for the pic of myself and the wife at BMW Welt when we took delivery at the centre and of course my wife has no clue to what happened to it, but the people at Welt also gave her a silver BMW USB memory stick and told her the pic was on there as well, they are mostly the factory tour and some of the delivery.
So I looked at it and found other pics that was on it as well, did anyone else get the same thing?
All in all it was a very, very good trip, I wish I could go on a trip like this every year, I would be one very happy guy!
But when I came back, reality hit hard, and for now all I have are the great memories of the good food, service and accommodations that BMW Canada and BMW Munich provided to us, and of course all the great people who I met on this voyage of the "M". I love making new friends!
It was great meeting the other owners that have the same interest in BMWs that I have, they are a great bunch to hang around and learn something about the cars that you didn't know before.
Before I forget the M4 is an incredible car!
I have owned an 1980 320i, 1987 325is, 2004 325ic, 2008 335i, and a 2011 335is, motorcycles I had 2009 F650GS, 2011 R1200R and now I have the 2013 K1300S.
Since this is my first real "M" car the only thing I can compare it to is my K1300S.
They are both are very lightweight when you drive them and both handle excellent and it does not take much to maneuver them in and out of traffic or around corners, and when you need the power to accelerate it is there at the slightest touch of the accelerator. All of my vehicles are 6spd manuals and I love the clutch on the M4 it engages early, you do not have to push it to the floor but I wish it was a shorter throw when shifting gears.
The one thing I did notice and liked is that when I was on the Alpine roads I made a big mistake and fished tailed off the ride (just a little) and the car helped me correct my "mistake".
There is one thing I wish it really did have was a seat controller for your thighs, but the seat are more comfortable than the sport seats in the 335is and as you can see I am a very big guy so those seat are worth very penny!
I can feel some of the lag that some people talk about but I don't feel it when it is in M1 and M2 mode but on european roads you are always on the go so there is really no time to slow down, at least the route they took us on.
All in all I am glad that I am almost broke and gave up the 335is for the M4, and whenever it gets off that slow boat from Germany I will really see what she can do on these slow and holely roads in Ontario.
Right now the boat is at SOUTHAMPTON UK setting there, joy!
She was dropped off a few hours ago all dirty from dust from most likely sitting in Halifax and, someone took the front plate and the navigation USB with the European maps, then left a bottle water with an eaten apple stuffed in it.
But at least she is here and will be ready for me to pickup on Thursday night!
Great read! I did an Euro Delivery for a Mercedes and I know how fun it is and has always liked reading other people's experience. Congrats on your new M4, with all the cool and bright colors available, you picked the second most popular color.
