I drove the 620 hp Dinan S/C E39 M5!

I had the opportunity to drive a Dinan S3 M5, one of a handful in the country. What a gentle monster. The car sounds so mean just starting up, and takes off like a modded TT... without the neck snap. Completely linear power delivery, like a NA car. The car is so damn heavy the sense of speed just isn't there until you look down at the speedo and that's fast!
I was almost equally impressed by the new JRZ shocks, much better than the Koni's on my old Dinan S2 M5. The car was super flat and stable around high speed sweepers and tight corners. I was less impressed w/the Dinan/Brembo brakes- they were a little soft but I think that would be fixed w/another brake bleed.
For a heavy sedan, that was one fast and well rounded car.
Thanks to my friend JR!

Two words:

Discovery Automotive. They build M5's the way that Dinan wishes he could. Check out Discovery's work in the new issue of Bimmer Magazine.

Discovery does great work. However, I think they built a total of 1 M5, correct? Except for the shell, that is no longer an M5 but a totally new car. Not easy to replicate!
Kirby, I'm w/you on the BK guy. What a freak!
