M5 Rear... What if...
M5 Rear... What if...
I did some crude PS'ing of the M5's rear tailight section for fun.
Here's a stock shot...

And the revised rear end shot...

So what do you think? Any better? Personally, I think so but was curious what others thought. Oh, and while I'm at it... here's the new 6 series fastback...

Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder but I will have to disagree on this one. Here are some of my observations and opinions... The white lens portion of the taillight is much too prominent and high on the body-line. The lower line of this white lens intersects the crease line on the trunk lid at a steep angle when the trunk line is completely horizontal. The whole balance and flow is lacking due to this chaotic maneuver.
Unfortunately, and again in my opinion, the front end has lost the distinct BMW look in place of a Pontiac styling cue. In addition, the hood-fender gap line intersects directly across the hood lines compared to other models of BMW which had similar hood lines that were carried through by incorporating the grills into the hood assembly. This made use of the styling lines while not interfering with them with stark lines.
While the performance of the new M5 is outstanding, I just couldn't live with the styling to consider it for purchase. I greatly wish BMW had done what I would consider to be a better job on their body design. But this has been beat to death and my original intent was simply to provide an alternate view of possible improvements and see if others felt the same.
